Greetings:

The 11 circuit labyrinth was painted and a meditation area was constructed at Sionito over the weekend.

Approximately 35 volunteers participated in various phases of the labyrinth project and the result is spectacular!

Additional projects undertaken over the weekend include:

Weed eating of the growth by the river
Leveling of the dirt along the main new sidewalk
Installation of the suspended ceiling grid and exit lights in the Children's Tabernacle;
Rearranging the drink dispensers and salad bar in the Dining Hall and re-ran electrical to same;
Laying of the wood floor in the boy's side of the Lodge staff suite;
Relocation of lumber to the barn;
Texturing and painting of the walls around both sinks in the girl's side of the Lodge staff suite;

and
Cleanup and furniture arranged in the Lodge staff suite.

Our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers for a job well done!

See you @ Sionito.

Doctrine and Covenants 163 Commentary Series

Forerunners of Peace
by Bob Kyser

To accelerate the work of sharing the gospel, the Twelve and the Seventy should be closely associated in implementing wholistic evangelistic ministries. The seventy are to be the forerunners of Christ’s peace, preparing the way for apostolic witness to be more readily received. Procedures regarding the calling and assignments of the Presidents of Seventy and members of the Quorums of Seventy shall be developed to facilitate the maximum level of collaboration with the Council of Twelve. The Twelve, the Presidents of Seventy, and the Quorums of Seventy should spend sufficient time together to ensure a mutual understanding of evangelistic priorities and approaches. —Doctrine and Covenants 163:5a

“Reviving and Equipping Faithful Communities,”

Held at Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa

July 27 - August 1.

The First Presidency encourages each congregation to send at least two people to CLW. The more participants from the same congregation or mission center will enable the educational and practical experiences of the week to be shared more broadly.

Several members of the World Church Leadership Council will bring ministry through classes, fellowship, and worship. The Ministerial Education and Discipleship Studies (MEADS) certificate program is also open to all CLW participants.

Please share this invitation and information with leaders and members, and look forward to a wonderful week.

My Tithing Plan

My Tithing Plan, a personal and confidential resource to assist disciples as they consider their tithing response is available for use in Australia, British Isles, Canada, and the United States. It can be used to intentionally plan contributions to Local and World Mission Tithes, and Community Tithes.

President Steve Veazey stated in his 2005 World Conference sermon, "Stewardship, discipleship, and mission cannot be separated." Principle two of A Disciple's Generous Response addresses the larger perspective of our discipleship: a disciple is faithful in response to Christ's ministry. This concept of faithful response is applicable to every aspect of our lives.

As disciples of Jesus Christ, our faithful financial response is reflected through our consistent annual giving to Mission Tithes. This is the key to funding the church locally and around the world. Principle four of A Disciple's Generous Response specifically addresses our financial response as disciples: a disciple shares generously through tithing so that others may experience God's generosity.

It is hoped that disciples in the Community of Christ will find My Tithing Plan useful as part of a spiritual process that acknowledges the generosity of God and leads to a tithing response. It can be updated periodically as income changes.

Activities will assist persons in discovering, cultivating, and expressing their gifts and talents.

The Coastal Bend Mission Center

is pleased to announce the availability of

Listening Circles

The goal of the Listening Circle is to cultivate understanding. All participants share their thoughts and hear one another’s perspectives in order to gain a better understanding of views. A Listening Circle will consist of 6-8 persons led by two trained Co-Facilitators. Participants will meet for 10 sessions to talk about their life experience on this important issue. Some persons have said that they do not need to participate in a Listening Circle because they already know how they feel on this issue. To the contrary, Listening Circles are designed for persons who have an opinion on this issue. Listening Circles are about
sharing your opinion in a safe environment. Listening Circles are not a decision-making process.
If you would like to participate in a Listening Circle or have more
questions, please contact

"Listen carefully to the many testimonies of those around the world who have been led into the fellowship of the Community of Christ...., Listen together to one another, without judgment or predisposition...," - D&C 162:4a, 5c
