Friends,

It is necessary for Coastal Bend Texas Mission Center to convene a
special conference. There are two items on the agenda of the
conference. The first is to consider an amendment to the 2009 budget
to increase the percentage of support that the mission center provides
for the field specialist position that Francisco holds. This is the
result of the announced reduction in World Church staff. Increasing
the mission center percentage of support of the field specialist
position is one means of minimizing the number of staff reductions
that will be necessary.

The other agenda item will be consideration of the priesthood call of
Mark Euritt to the office of Bishop. If the call is approved the
ordination may take place during one of the reunions at Sionito.

The special mission center conference will be June 6, Saturday, at
2:00 pm at Fairbanks. It is necessary to hold the conference as early
as this in order to provide the resulting information regarding the
budget amendment to the World Church Finance Board who will approve
the World Church budget reductions. That board meets June 13 and 14.

Because Coastal Bend conducts a delegate conference, it will be
necessary for each congregation to call a conference in order to elect
delegates to the conference. I am aware that some congregations
already have conferences scheduled before the June 6 date. Pastors
should advise Cheryl Saur and me when they wish to schedule the
conference and we will attempt to provide a representative from the
mission center to be present.

It is required for there to be 30 days notice of any resolution that
is brought to a mission center conference, and 4 weeks advanced notice
of the calling of a conference. The resolutions will be sent to
congregations and the web page well before May 7.

I am sending the announcement now to allow congregations to announce
the conference beginning this Sunday, and to schedule and announce
congregational conferences to elect delegates. Each congregation may
elect up to 5 delegates and 5 alternates. The congregations are
required to announce congregational conferences at least two weeks in
advance. If a special conference is called the only items on the
announced agenda may be treated.

Special conferences may only deal with the agenda items announced at
the calling of the conference. This mission center conference will be
limited to discussion of the 2009 budget amendment and the priesthood
call of Mark Euritt. In the explanation of the budget amendment
resolution it will be made clear that the adoption of the resolution
is with the intention that the same percentage of support for the
field specialist position as in the resolution will be included in the
2010 proposed budget. The 2010 budget, however, will not be on the
agenda of this special conference.

We will also provide information about the impact on the available
funds into the future that will result from continuing with the
proposed expenses from those funds. This as well will be provided as
additional information to inform the debate on the budget amendment
resolution.

Thanks for your consideration of this matter.

In Christ,

Terry
